…Because the paper book has done wonderfully well for a long time, so the question can’t be dismissed easily, and because that statistic is probably more an artifact of screen size and the overwhelming ratio of pc/laptop ownership to e-reader device ownership.
To pick an argument of similar but more obviously flawed nature, cast your mind back to the 18th century and ask “if virtually 100% of property is owned by men, why are we now arguing that women should be able to own it too?”
Or in other words, we can’t take historical situations as valid justifications of themselves.
Although as regards backlight-vs-ambient-light, honestly I have no frikkin’ clue which one is really better. That, in itself, interests me in the discussion.
